A stay at our island cottage on beautiful Charleston Lake offers an unmatched vacation experience - privacy, peacefulness and relaxation. The cottage was built in the 1930s and it is one of the finer cottages on the lake from that period, well constructed and maintained over the years. Oak hardwood floors, painted wood clapboard and sturdy construction give the cottage a "one of a kind" feeling. The interior is clean and nicely furnished with antiques. Since you will be staying on an island, you are surrounded by water on all sides, and there is always a nice breeze to keep you cool.
Charleston Lake is located in Southern Ontario, Canada, near the St. Lawrence River. It is about 100 miles directly north of Syracuse, NY, USA, and about 30 minutes from Kingston, Ontario. The lake is about 9 miles long and about 4 miles wide at its widest point. There are lots of islands, coves, and interesting shoreline making it one of the prettiest lakes in all of Ontario. To get to the lake, take exit 659 off of route 401, towards Lansdowne.
The cottage contains and/or has available:
Things to bring with you
Boats and Parking We do not have a boat for rent at the moment, so if you need to rent a boat for everyday use I can arrange for a rental from Twist's Outlet (613-659-3034) if you wish.
The water is superb for swimming, however it is deep and rocky and therefore not suitable for children approximately under 7 years old or those who cannot swim.
The fishing is excellent right around the island - smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, Northern Pike, and Lake Trout are plentiful. There are countless perch and sunfish for young kids right off the dock.
